There are all kinds of things that you can rent, and many of them are things that you only need for a short time, and then you think you will never use them again. When these are big ticket items, it makes sense that you should rent them and then return them. When you rent just about anything, you are going to have to deal with rental contracts. Take a few moments before you sign up to be sure you are clear on everything so that you aren’t charged when you return the items.
The big rental contracts are going to be the ones that you sign for things like homes, apartments, cars, and large ticket electronics. The first three things are pretty standard, and you probably are aware of how those types of things work. You should still read through any of these rental contracts to be sure you know what you are getting and what is expected of you. In most cases, if you have a question about anything you can always just ask. If you find that things are still confusing, get help with understanding all aspects of the contract.
When it comes to the rent to own type of rental contracts, be sure you are really careful about what you are going to do. You can not do rent to own in all states, but if it is where you live, it is legal. The problem with these rental contracts is that while you get what you want when you want it, you are also going to pay almost double the retail price once you are done going through your contract. If that works for you, just be sure you know just how much that is. Most are really good at spelling that out for you. You can always return your items anyway, but you do lose all you put into them.
Rental contracts for things like moving trucks and party rentals (think tents and tables, etc.) are going to be pretty straightforward as well, but be sure you know what you are going to be responsible for if something were to go wrong. If a storm wipes out the tent, or something happens and a rental chair is broken, you want to know what you are going to have to do. In some cases, you won’t own anything, but in other instances, you may have to replace the item at retail price. If you are worried, see if you can get event insurance just in case something were to go wrong that would mean you owe a lot of money.
